Iowa SWAT Purpose: To develop girls' softball teams that emphasize player and team development, good sportsmanship, competitiveness, and FUN!  Iowa SWAT Softball Teams are comprised of players from all over the Central Iowa area, competing as tournament teams in ASA, USSSA and other sanctioned softball associations in Iowa and the Midwest Region. Our program is dedicated to the development of young ladies in the game of softball at a high, competitive level to prepare them for High School and on into College play. The players are members of All-Star Strike Zone Hitting and Pitching Facility in Waukee, Iowa, where we train.

Advantages of playing for Iowa SWAT:

• SWAT Camp.  A free "SWAT Camp" skills clinic is held over the holiday break at All-Star Strike Zone for our SWAT players.
• Free Hitting & Fundamentals lessons for SWAT players from Owner and SWAT Director Rob Tennant.  Siblings of SWAT players are also offered lessons at a reduced rate of $25. 
• Dedicated Facility.  Off-season team practices are held all winter at the All-Star facility.  In the Spring, outside practices can be moved indoors in the event of inclement weather to avoid missing practices.  In addition, players can schedule individual times to come in to hit, pitch, throw, work on grounders, etc.
• Coach Training.  Our coaches attend coaching clinics, such as the clinics put on by University of Iowa softball coach Gayle Blevins and U of I Pitching Coach Shane Bouman.  In addition, we are very fortunate to have long-time Waukee High School coach Jen Slauson as a coach in our program.  She shares her knowledge with other SWAT coaches regarding running effective practices, drills, techniques, etc., in a coaching clinic setting and at coach meetings.   
• Family atmosphere.  We have many sets of sisters who play for our SWAT teams, and we like our teams to attend tournaments together.  We encourage our teams to cheer and support our other SWAT teams.  We raised funds and participated in Relay for Life in 2009, and plan to continue participating in community events together to teach our players to give back. 
• Reduced Membership Fee.  Our players & their families receive a significant reduction in the membership fee.  Having our players be members of the facility shows their commitment to the team and to improving their skills.  This membership is a family membership and allows siblings to use the facility as well, along with all of the other perks of membership - 10% off lessons & merchandise, etc.  PLUS, all of the perks of being a SWAT player!
• Low Costs for Players.  Players are responsible for the significantly reduced membership fee and their uniform.  All other costs, such as team equipment, tournament fees, ASA Insurance, etc. are subsidized by fundraisers and many sponsors.
• Discounted Equipment.  SWAT players have access to discounted softball items from major suppliers.  
• Free Tryouts.  We do not charge a fee to try out for our teams. 
• Friendships.  Our players and parents have made lasting friendships from participating in the SWAT softball program!
